Chennai/IBNS: The Indian bowlers, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, bowled out Bangladesh for just 149 in the first innings of the inaugural Test in Chennai on Friday.

Bangladesh were all out for a paltry 149 in their first innings as they trailed India by a massive 227 runs on the second day of the opening Test here on Friday. In reply to India's 376, Bangladesh could survive for just 47.1 overs and were shot out in the post-tea session, as they struggled big time against the home side's bowlers.

Ravichandran Ashwin scored his sixth test hundred as he and Ravindra Jadeja dug India's cricketers out of trouble against Bangladesh on day one of the first test.

Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud rattled India with four wickets to leave the hosts on 176-6 at tea on the first day of the first Test at Chennai on Thursday.Mahmud ripped through the Indian top order including skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli -- both scoring just six runs -- to leave the hosts teetering at 34-3 inside the first hour of play.

Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to field against India in an overcast Chennai on Thursday in the first of two Tests.

India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin scored a classy century on Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. At stumps India were at 339/6 with Ashwin (102) and Ravindra Jadeja (86) at the crease .

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss on Thursday and decided to send India in to bat in the first cricket test. India was playing a test for the first time since March when it beat England 4-1 in a five-match series in India.
